Dentist, Practice Owner
My Goal
As a dentist in Zug, I place great importance on ensuring that you feel comfortable and don’t have to be afraid of treatments. I take ample time for consultation and shared decisions — and continuously further my education.
Why did I become a dentist?
I grew up in a building where there was a dental practice on the ground floor, and dentists lived both below and above our apartment. I really liked them, and I feel this influenced my later choice of profession.
At the age of 13, I was diagnosed with a temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dislocation: when I yawned and opened my mouth wide, my lower jaw slid beyond its normal position and I was unable to close my mouth on my own. Fortunately, during my childhood there was always a dentist nearby who could put my jaw back in place. After I moved out, I had to be taken to the emergency room by ambulance every time my jaw dislocated.
Doctors had a hard time treating me, as the condition was not well known at the time. I wore braces and a Michigan splint for six years — yet I still suffered from pain in my chewing muscles. During this challenging time, it became my dream and passion to become a dentist and find a cure for this problem.
Research & TMJ Therapy
During my dental studies, I dedicated myself to research in this area and spent years developing a TMJ therapy. In collaboration with experts in biomechanics, orthopedics and physiotherapy, we found an approach that resolves the problem without invasive methods.
All participants in our research program — and I myself — were finally able to eliminate jaw pain and bite into an apple again without fear.
Today at the Practice
Since my studies, I have regularly attended continuing education courses, as dentistry is constantly evolving. This gives us more and more opportunities to restore our patients’ healthy smiles — in line with our four core values.
